Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build Guide

In this Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build Guide, we’ll be talking about the Advanced Vocation, Warrior. This Warrior Build Guide will contain the necessary information for what its role in combat is, good pawn pairings, how to unlock it, how to play it, and everything else you need to know.

Unlocking the Warrior Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2

You can unlock the Warrior vocation by heading to the Vocation Guild situated at Vernworth. You will then pick up the side quest Vocation Frustration. Finishing the quest will naturally unlock the vocation for you. Keep it in mind, however, that acquiring the vocation will require you to have 150 discipline points.

A Warrior’s Role in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The role of a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build is a mix of both a tank and a DPS. This vocation does a lot of damage as a DPS character, while also being tanky enough to absorb tons of damage. You can replace the fighter as the warrior is basically a better fighter. The warrior excels at knocking down enemies, allowing you to deal more damage and giving your party more time to deal damage. It plays slowly compared to other vocations such as a Thief or a Mystic Spearhand, so it’s not going to be a vocation for everyone. It can take some time to get used to, as playing the warrior would feel clunky at first.

Since you’ll be using a Fighter before unlocking the warrior vocation, I would recommend having a mage as a main pawn. Once you unlock the warrior vocation several hours into the game, your Mage would be able to complement the playstyle that a warrior has.

Basics of Combat – Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build

The first thing you have to know about the basics of playing a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build is charge attacks. When you press and hold down the default attack button, your character will start going into a stance and charge. Once you see a flash, it means that the attack is fully charged. You can still hold the button down even after the flash, but it’ll have the same amount of damage. You can combine this with skills as well to make them deal more damage or have more knockdown effect. When you’re charging, you will take less damage while also being more resistant to flinching.

The next ability will be Barge, which you can use by pressing the RB or R1 button. You will be shoulder tackling towards your target, flinching them. This is great to use when the enemy gets too close to you, as it will prevent you from taking damage while also allowing you to get a follow-up attack off of it. You can also use this to interrupt an enemy, or if you need to close the distance on an enemy.

Stonesplitter will be the heavy attack of the warrior. You will be using this most of the time as it deals a good amount of knockdown damage. It does massive amounts of damage on downed enemies, and it’ll have a special animation when it happens. When combined with a running jump, this attack can go really far.

A passive skill which warriors will unlock later on is Chain of Blows. It allows you to use the default attack faster if you time the next swing perfectly at the end of the first swing. It’s something you would want to get used to as a warrior to help speed up your attacks.

Lastly, the Repulse skill. It’s a skill that will parry enemies if you time it correctly, knocking them off-balance. You can charge it while anticipating the attack, so you can also be tanking while doing this. Learning this mechanic is a big part of playing as a warrior, so practicing it will definitely pay off.

Stamina Management as a Warrior

A Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build will have it easier to manage their stamina compared to Fighters, as they have charge attacks to not expend huge amounts of stamina than blocking. Opposite to what most of the guides for other vocations, you will need to sprint around in combat because warriors are slow. As a warrior’s attacks are slow, you will need to move into proper position at the right time to get your charged attacks off. This means you’ll be sprinting around in combat.

You will need to manage your equipment load to have faster stamina recovery. If you have a lot of items on your character, you can transfer it to the bank or let your pawn carry it. You can also use consumables to regenerate stamina if you do need it.

Skills to Use as a Warrior

Rending Sweep | Razing Sweep

The first skill you’ll have early on is Razing Sweep. This allows you to spin in a circle and hit enemies in a large AOE. It knocks them backwards and works well in close quarters. If you send the enemies flying into objects, they will receive additional damage when they land.

Skyward Sunder | Heavenward Sunder

The next skill you would want to use as a warrior will be Heavenward Sunder. This is an upward attack as you’ll jump up in the air when you charge it. The enemy will receive high knockdown damage from this skill. If you hit enemies in the head, there’s a big chance you’ll knock them down, allowing you to do follow-up attacks to deal more damage. It’s very useful for big and tall enemies.

Tidal Fury | Tidal Wrath

Tidal Fury makes your character absorb more damage as it allows you to block using your weapon. If you time it correctly, you can parry an enemy’s attack. It has a strict timing, although the animation for this skill is pretty fast so you can use this reactively.

For the last skill slot, it’s a matter of preference for you. If you have a warrior pawn, I suggest you to have Bellow on them. This skill taunts enemies, making them focus on you, or your pawn if they have it.

Augments and Equipment for a Warrior in Dragon’s Dogma 2

For Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Builds, you would want to be on the lookout for augments that will increase your protection, generate more threat, or give you stamina recovery. You can also go for boosts to knockdown damage, although the ones mentioned before it is what you want to focus on.

As for equipments, you want to use the most protective armor you can so you take the least amount of damage possible. For rings, there will be a ring that increases the amount of flinch and stagger chance on enemies. You will also find a ring that reduces your chances of being knocked down or staggered. These are generally what you want, as these will help you in fulfilling your role as a warrior.

That concludes our Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build Guide, and we have many others as well for you to check out. And you can use the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Wiki as well if you have further questions.
